Robert Zastre is a Vancouver-based independent cinematographer known for his keen eye and deep passion for visual storytelling. In 2022–23, he served as a guest cinematographer for the Acting Department at Vancouver Film School, where he was able to cut his teeth.

In 2023, Robert was selected for the CSC Field of View Mentee Program by the Canadian Society of Cinematographers. He also holds Affiliate status with the CSC.

Over the course of his career, Robert has collaborated with 26 directors from a wide range of backgrounds and artistic styles. His greatest strength lies in his adaptability- adapting the director’s unique vision while bringing his own lifeforce and knowlege to every frame. His work reflects a deep understanding of story, composition, lighting, and emotion, always with the narrative at the forefront.

Robert was the cinematographer of the MAMM 2025 Best Vertical Series.

With years of hands-on experience and creative collaboration, Robert continues to push the boundaries of the medium. He’s committed to crafting cinematic experiences that not only look beautiful but resonate on a deeper level, always in service of the story.
